This week, DSJ carried out an in-depth engineering collaboration with a visiting Australian electrical contractor during a detailed technical design review session at our factory. The focus of the meeting was not only on manufacturing capability, but more importantly on engineering refinement and drawing optimization to fully comply with Australian standards.

After the factory tour, both engineering teams immediately entered a structured technical discussion centered on the project drawings. The review process was highly detailed and systematic, with both sides working line by line through the design documentation to ensure full compliance with AS61439 requirements and the specific expectations of the Australian market.
One of the key discussion points was the IP protection rating of the switchboard enclosures. The client emphasized the need for strict environmental suitability, particularly for outdoor installations. Our engineers carefully reviewed the enclosure design, sealing structure, and ventilation approach to ensure that the final configuration could reliably achieve the required protection level under real operating conditions.
Another important topic was the external surface finish and enclosure color specification. The Australian engineering team had a clear requirement regarding the visual and coating standard of the switchboards, especially for main distribution boards. DSJ engineering team proposed adjustments to the powder coating process and surface treatment system to ensure both durability and compliance with project aesthetic requirements, while maintaining corrosion resistance suitable for harsh environments.
The discussion then moved to the internal structural layout of the switchboard, where both teams worked closely on optimizing the physical arrangement of components. Special attention was given to the positioning of the PE (protective earth) bar and grounding bar, ensuring that the design fully meets Australian safety practices, accessibility requirements, and fault current handling considerations. Several iterations of layout adjustments were reviewed and refined during the meeting to achieve an optimal balance between safety, maintainability, and installation efficiency.
A major part of the technical exchange also focused on component selection in accordance with Australian standards. The engineering teams jointly reviewed the suitability of selected electrical components, including circuit breakers, protective devices, and auxiliary components. The discussion ensured that all selected parts not only meet performance requirements but are also compliant with recognized international brands and certification standards commonly accepted in the Australian market.
Throughout the entire process, the collaboration was highly interactive. Instead of a one-sided review, both DSJ engineers and the visiting Australian engineers actively exchanged ideas, challenged design assumptions, and proposed improvements. This iterative communication allowed the drawing package to be continuously refined in real time, significantly improving both technical accuracy and compliance alignment.
By the end of the technical session, the revised design reached a strong consensus between both parties. The final solution fully aligned with Australian standard requirements, project-specific technical expectations, and practical installation considerations. More importantly, it demonstrated the value of early-stage engineering collaboration in reducing risk and ensuring smoother downstream manufacturing and project execution.
This project once again highlights DSJ’s strength not only as a manufacturing partner, but also as an engineering-driven solution provider capable of actively participating in design optimization for international standards compliance. Our ability to engage directly with client engineers and adapt designs accordingly plays a critical role in delivering reliable and market-compliant switchboard solutions.
With over 45 years of industry experience, DSJ continues to focus on providing flexible engineering support, precise manufacturing capability, and strong technical communication for global electrical contractors. We believe that successful projects are built on detailed engineering dialogue, and this visit is a clear example of how collaborative design refinement leads to better technical outcomes.
We look forward to further strengthening this cooperation and supporting more Australian projects through precise engineering, compliant design, and high-quality manufacturing execution.
